Chapter 60 Besides Your Name, What Else is Real?
Bradley hung up the phone with a smile. He sat with his legs crossed in the private room and casually made another call. I’ve already talked to him. He won’t make Alison apologize.”
“Are you sure?” Barry probed.
“Do you still doubt my ability to handle things?” Bradley’s eyes were filled with mischief, making his handsome face even more charming.
Barry felt rea*sured after hearing him say that. However, if he knew how Bradley had talked to Brayden. he would probably have a hard time feeling at case. Among all the people in the Cornell Family, Bradley was the one who understood Brayden the best. He knew exactly how to hit his brother’s weak points using his words. Although he would receive a scolding sometimes, he never cared. It was no different this time.
On the other hand, Brayden was already planning on how to deal with Bradley when he returned. Bradley even dug his own grave by trying to undermine him. He deserves to be punished!
Brayden put his phone down. At first, he intended to go inside and supervise Alison while she wrote the letter, but for some reason, the thought of doing so made him feel uncomfortable. He feared it would only distance Alison further from him. Additionally, he wasn’t keen on Bradley’s offer to introduce someone else to Alison.
Meanwhile, Alison had been looking at him for a while from the study. She wondered why he hadn’t left despite the call having ended for some time. She was unsure of what he wanted by being in the room, which was preventing her from focusing on her work.
“Brayden, please leave after finishing your phone call. I have things to do,” Alison said, directly asking him to leave.
Hearing her voice, Brayden looked over and noticed how much she disliked him. At that moment, she seemed like a prickly hedgehog, keeping others from getting close.
He walked toward her slowly, his deep gaze fixated on her before saying, “As long as you promise not to target Julia anymore, you don’t need to apologize this time.” He did not know why he was being soft-

At that, a perplexed Alison asked, “What do you mean?” She was genuinely suspicious of Brayden’s behavior. He was unpredictable and changed his mind often. “Are you joking?”
“I am not joking with you,” Brayden said coldly and more calmly than usual. “You and I are husband and wife, and you were fine before Julia appeared. I didn’t expect you to become like this now.”
“You’re the one who has changed,” Alison retorted.
“Alison.” Brayden’s tone became harsher as he wondered why she was being so ungrateful.
“Don’t you feel like you’ve lost your sense of judgment ever since Julia returned?” Alison genuinely liked his face, so she reminded him, “Before this, when something happened, you would handle it calmly and rationally. Now, you rely on your feelings to make decisions.” Brayden’s gaze darkened slightly, and his expression became colder.
He said, “If three people were present at the scene, and one of them died, wouldn’t it be normal for A to suspect that B’ killed him?”
“What if an outsider killed C?” Alison asked in return, knowing that he was hinting at something. “B knows
it’s not his own doing, but he doesn’t suspect A These two simple sentences caused the two to enter into a stalemate.
With that, Alison said solemnly. “I’m tired after these twenty-plus days, and I don’t want to have any more disputes with you because of Julia. Whether you believe me or not, I didn’t do any of those things.”
She wasn’t a person who liked to argue. After all, anyone would be annoyed if they were forced into these situations repeatedly while being constantly suspected and questioned. Brayden wanted to believe her words, and his heart wavered when she looked at him earnestly.
When Brayden thought of how she had changed after he wanted a divorce, he couldn’t believe which of her words were genuine. They had been married for two years, yet he was unaware Alison knew Charles or had some ties with the Lambert Family. He didn’t even know that she was a professional hacker in secret. How could he trust her when she hid so many things from him?
“If you were still the person you used to be, I would’ve believed you,” he said deeply. “However, throughout our two years of marriage, have you ever been honest with me?”
Alison was speechless. She met his gaze and asked, “Do you doubt my feelings for you?”
“How can I not doubt them?” Brayden was truly emotional. He couldn’t stay calm when he thought of how she had lied to him about everything in the past. “Other than the name Alison, is there anything else about you that’s real?”
“Get out.” Alison realized for the umpteenth time that Brayden wasn’t in his right mind. Even if she tried to talk to him calmly and rationally, he could still make her half-dead with anger. How had she never noticed this potential in him before?
Brayden thought she felt guilty. “Had it not been for the divorce, I wouldn’t have known you kept this many secrets.”
“I’m telling you to get out.” Alison’s words were filled with coldness.
“Alison,” bellowed Brayden before he asked a question that angered her. He said, “I want to know whether you’ve been pretending to be good and caring to me. Did you truly like me for the past two years?”
“You should ask yourself that question,” Alison retorted, feeling the urge to pack up and leave right away. “Other than my name, I am a real person too. I told you on the day of our marriage that you can help me, and I can help you. I have never lied to you.”
Alison answered all his questions directly, choosing silence only for those she couldn’t answer conveniently.
“How can you say that?” Brayden’s gaze grew colder, feeling that she was lying through their teeth. “Have you forgotten that you once told me you were the heiress of Lambert International? What happened, huh? Wasn’t that a lie?”
Alison was speechless, but she hadn’t lied about that. Her sc*mbag father and Anna were the ones to blame. Moreover, it wasn’t even lying. Back then, she did act as a protector for her little sister. Anyone who bullied Anna would get a beating from her.
“You don’t need to issue an apology.” Brayden didn’t want to talk to her anymore. However, he went on to say something hurtful. “I don’t want people to find out that I have an envious wife who lies all the time.”
After saying that, he left. He was angry at Alison, but his grandfather loved her. If he forced her to apologize, it might break her pride, and she might end up hating herself later. For his grandfather’s sake,
Alison didn’t know what was on his mind as she watched him leave from the second-floor corridor. After he closed the door, she immediately changed the pa*sword. When she returned to the study, she received a message from James.
Aly! When are you going to post that tweet? I’ve already written the apology, and I promise it will make the netizens berate Brayden and Julia to death!”
After all, those who dared to bully Alison meant they did not take him seriously.
Alison replied, I’m not going to post it.”
James was bewildered. Why wouldn’t she post it? His first reaction was to suspect that Brayden had threatened her, but when he thought about it, Brayden asked her to post the apology statement. What was going on, then?
the Feeling confused, James gave Alison a call and went straight to the point as soon as she picked up phone. “Aly, why aren’t you going to post it? Aren’t we going to expose Brayden and Julia’s ugly deeds?”
