Chapter 28
Tyler wrote back, The night is long when you’re alone.”
Sierra attached a photograph of a man in the group chat. “Gummy, Ty, what do you think of my suitor?”
Despite the many suitors in her life, Sierra had not been with a man over the years.
Sierra often said, “I guess I’ve read too many love stories and comics. I always imagine a young. charming, and domineering CEO to fall in love with me, so I can’t accept anyone below that expectation.”
Lianne fixated on the photo. The thick, black-framed gla**es were a dead giveaway that the man was simple and dorky. He was not Sierra’s type.
Knowing Sierra, the girl was into good-looking guys like Zane, and he had to have certain charms.
Even though Zane wore silver-framed gla**es, the man was not at all dorky. In fact, Zane was much like a character in a book, hiding his steamy charms behind his sleek suit.
At a loss as to why she would compare Zane to other men, Lianne swiftly banished the thoughts and looked at the man in the photo “Sierra, are you planning to accept the man? What does he do for a living?”
Sierra replied, “He’s the cla**ic IT guy. He works in the software development unit of the Atlas Group He’s a little reserved and has no vices. Although he’s a far cry from my ideal boyfriend, he’s good to me. I’ve been observing him for a while, and I plan to give dating a try.”
Lianne and Tyler’s replies nearly came at the same time. “Don’t rush to say yes to him. You can decide after we’ve met him.”
The girl was one to jump into things. Sierra was easily stirred by emotions, so there was no telling whether she would feel moved to go out with the guy. Tyler and Lianne needed to look out for her.
Sierra said, “Of course, I’m going to bring the guy to meet with you guys. He can’t be my boyfriend if he doesn’t pa** your test.”
Tyler replied. “There go my girls. All the men have taken you away from me. How am I supposed to live on my own?”
He added a crying emoji
Lianne smiled. “We should buy houses in the same neighborhood. Then, we can get together even though we have families of our own. Don’t cry.”
While activity ensued in the group chat, Lianne received a notification on her work phone. She took the phone for a look. It was a text message from Zane. “Why aren’t you asleep?”
How did he know that she was awake?
Was she going to be called in for work in the middle of the night?
Lianne quickly replied, “What can I do for you, Mr. Atlas?”
Instead of a text reply. Lianne heard someone at the door.
It was not proper for a male boss to knock on a female employee’s door during odd hours.
Lianne sent another text message to Zane. “Mr. Atlas, you can talk to me on the phone. You don’t have to knock on my door.”
Zane responded with a question mark
Lianne was speechless.
Was it not Zane knocking on her door?
Lianne draped a jacket over her shoulders in a hurry before opening the door. Willow stood outside her door.
Willow appeared disheveled. Her eyes were swollen as if she had been crying. “Lianne, I apologize. I shouldn’t have said what I said last night. Can you tell Mr. Atlas not to kick me out of the company?”
